The Blog

Happy dance

We were wedding blogged, y’all! Commence the hip wiggling, conceal the eye rolling. We’re pumped.

As I mentioned here, planning our August wedding was quite the treat for this wannabe designer. Since my mama is a minister, our family was often invited to the many weddings she orchestrated while I was growing up, so I’ve been peeping on nuptials for quite some time. I really do love a good wedding (who doesn’t?), and have always enjoyed a touching ceremony as much as a swinging reception.

When we got engaged, I did the obligatory buy-every-wedding-magazine-ever, but didn’t find a lot of practical inspiration outside of Martha Stewart Weddings, Southern Weddings, Town & Country Weddings and Real Simple Weddings, also known a The Bible. That might sound like a lot of ammo, and it was, but I needed a more regular fix of marital motivation. Enter the wedding blogging industry. Did you know that there are roughly a bajillion wedding blogs? It’s true. Overwhelming. I had to be selective since there aren’t 120 hours in each day, so I regularly read Wedding Chicks, Style Me Pretty and Southern Weddings. Each bombarded me with daily doses of wedding wonder, and I kind of always hoped that one of these sites would post about our day.

So when Style Me Pretty offered to feature our story, photos and video on their site, we were all, yes!, please and thank you! You can check out the feature here. It kind of makes cutting out those tricky dessert table labels worth it. Another huge virtual hug to all of our fab vendors that made the day gorgeous.

Wanna cut to the chase? Here’s our wedding video shot and edited by the outstanding Elysium Productions. You guys, I fell in love with Elysium’s work when I saw this video, and booking them was such a win. Enjoy the highlights below.
